Mapping Helps You Locate Your Team Mates and Co-Workers Smartphones are a great alternative to dedicated GPS devices offering excellent mapping and navigation capabilities that any mobile worker will appreciate. WAVE Connections exploits the GPS capabilities of smartphones and allows every user to see the location of other users on the channel. The Map tab shows the location of all users using your active channel, including those that may not themselves have access to mapping functionality. Each user is identified by a pin and their user name. You can zoom in to street level to locate a user, or zoom out to see the position of one user relative to another. This can be done both with the + and - keys on the screen or by through pinch and zoom finger movements. Location pin color changes based on the time of the last received position. A green pin indicates the position was updated within the last 5 minutes. WAVE Connections does not currently support mapping for BlackBerry and Windows Mobile/CE devices. |

Users and History One of the first things you’ll want to know when you sign-in to your channel is who else is available. You might be signing-in for the first time or changing your primary channel. The Users tab is a quick way to see who else is signed-in to the active channel. You'll immediately see a list of connected users and whether their position is currently displayed on the Map. The color of the location pin will also tell you how long ago that user’s position was updated. Sometimes you may want to see who's been talking on your primary channel, or who spoke last on the channel. Maybe you were busy on a project and hadn’t heard from a co-worker for a while. A quick check on the History tab will show you who spoke on the channel, and the time and duration of their last transmission in chronological order. A later release of WAVE Connections software will allow you to instantly replay primary channel transmissions. For BlackBerry and Windows Mobile/CE devices, Users and History information is accessible via the application menu. |

The Most Capable 3G, 4G LTE or WiFi Push-to-Talk Service Available Today Sure, there are alternative PTT solutions in the market. Most of the larger service providers offer it in some shape or form. Other PTT services offer nothing more than voice messaging - great for person-to-person use in the Mall, but unable to deliver the real-time, secure voice demanded for critical communications amongst teams. Compared to WAVE Connections, all of these alternate services are limited in what they can offer, both in terms of voice quality, device compatibility and geographical coverage. WAVE Connections also is the only service that does not lock you into a 2-year contract. You can change or upgrade your device at will, add or remove users and channels without penalty, and only pay for those services that you use during the monthly billing cycle. And the best is yet to come. We will soon upgrade the service to allow users with two-way radio systems to share that voice over WAVE Connections. That means construction companies, utilities, transportation services and other industries that depend on two-way radio for team communications can extend it's range and usefulness. If you would like to hear from us when we've enabled this capability, drop us an email today. |
